Preparing for your Canadian Tours & Transfers

Rocky Mountaineer does not operate tours or transfers. We partner with trusted local tour and transportation providers that highlight the best sights, scenery, and activities in each of our destinations. Therefore, there are no Rocky Mountaineer hosts on the sightseeing or direct transfers, tours, or activities.

In the Canadian Rockies, our transfers and tours are provided by either Brewster Sightseeing or Sundog Tour Co.. Their drivers are some of the best in the world, with knowledge that comes from over a century of guiding guests through the Canadian Rockies, passed down from one generation to the next.

Please check in directly with the tour or transfer driver or guide at the pick-up location and time as noted in your final travel documents, which are emailed to you 30 days prior to your departure and can also be found in our Guest Portal.

Please note, a Rocky Mountaineer representative will not be at the hotel in the morning prior to your tour or transfer.

Some tours or transfers do include lunch, while some may include a lunch stop for guests to arrange lunch at their own expense. Please refer to your final travel documents, which are emailed to you 30 days prior to your departure and can also be found in our Guest Portal, to confirm if meals are included in your tour or transfer.

Some tours are only a half-day tour, and therefore do not include lunch.

When your tour or transfer is booked as part of your Rocky Mountaineer package, luggage handling is included. The hotel porterage service will collect and deliver luggage to and from your room, while motorcoach drivers will load and unload your luggage onto the motorcoach.

You do not require luggage tags for tours or transfers, although it is recommended that you have at least one personal luggage tag on each piece of luggage for identification purposes.

At the beginning of your tour or transfer, your luggage will be loaded onto the motorcoach at the start of the tour.
Please note: Your luggage will not be available to you, until arrival at your drop-off hotel. 

Weather in the Canadian Rockies can change at a moment's notice. We recommend that you dress in layers as even on warm summer days, some sightseeing stops will be a little cooler than others due to changes in elevation.

Wear good walking shoes with grip, suitable easy mountain paths. Particularly, if you are participating in the Columbia Icefield Adventure, you must wear footwear appropriate for walking on a glacier.

We recommend that you pack a small day bag with your camera, travel documents and itinerary, valuable items, medications, and sunscreen to bring with you on the motorcoach.

We partner with the very best local tour providers to offer the sightseeing tours and transfers included in our packages. Our tour provider partners will do everything they can to accommodate any special needs, however depending on the type of sightseeing tour and the activities included, each of our tour partners have different abilities to meet mobility and accessibility needs.

For guests who are in wheelchairs, our tour and transfer partner's motorcoaches are not capable of lifting guests. However, if you have a wheelchair or mobility scooter, and are able to use the stairs, and the wheelchair or scooter is collapsible and under 20kgs, our travel partner can accommodate.

Please ensure that you complete our Mobility Requirements Form at the time of booking, so that we can advise our travel partners of any mobility or accessiblity requirements you may have prior to travelling.

Some tours and transfers are exclusive to Rocky Mountaineer guests, however some are not.

Specific seating on motorcoaches cannot be reserved ahead of time. However, drivers will do their best to accommodate requests.

Gratuitues are not included for sightseeing tour guides or drivers and is at the discretion of each guest. We suggest a gratuity of $5 CAD per person, per day.
